Review[edit source]

First of all, you totally stole this episode title from OUaT 6x07. I mean, I know it came out like a good five years after this episode was even conceived of, but fucking still. Lol, how pissed were you to find out that 6x07 was gonna be called that, back when the title was released? Then again, this here show probably wasn't on your mind at all at the time, so you probably paid it no heed. I think I came up with a nice alternative title for this episode soon after 1x14 came out, when I pitched that that one should have been entitled "A Gay Old Time", but I've since forgotten what it was. Aw well. This entire part of the review hasn't at all been reviewing the episode. How very Rena of me.

This was the second episode in a row to be centric to a seasonal (I assume) supporter, and the third centric in a row to be about a male, which, yeah, automatically far more boring. But, unlike the previous episode, I enjoyed this one quite a lot. The Imp travelling around YOLO realm to YOLO realm, setting up a bunch of things that lol will never be written, lost its novelty rather fast, whereas I actually felt quite the sense of intrigue surrounding the whole history-of-Rome-inspired story that was Pemus' flashbacks. Not at all what I would have expected for his character; interesting to read, and didn't necessarily know where they were going. I mean, I totally knew that he was gonna kill his brother in the scene that it happened, but prior to that, before we knew they were false twins (a thing, apparently) I just figured Pomolus would be the one to end up being the Fucksman. Just cos yeah, twins and stories and our shows and stuff. I also pitched Mome being Pome since Romulus and Rome. Think Rena gon' change it. Lol I was happy when Pomolus died. He was so damn sanctimonious, and I could tell Rena was writing his lines from his own perspective, which only made it all the more satisfying when his face got bashed in by a rock.

Was Rhea Saliva (Rhea like Gonor and/or Diar Rhea yo) being a wolf just a reference to OUaT's Huntsman being raised by wolves? I also wonder if her race, whatever they may be, tie back to the Big Bad Dog. ALSO, will Fucks end up being a part of Blow White's tale? Since he's the Huntsman and all. Curious... Glad we got that last FB of the Queer ripping his heart out, 'cause I feared maybe we'd already seen it in like 1.03 or something and I forgot because I was like 12 back when that aired. Apparently not, though. I figured for the most part of the ep that that's what the flashbacks were leading up to, and I feared it'd feel rather random and not inkeeping with the Moman Empire story, like a bit out of nowhere, but you made it work surprisingly seamlessly, so kudos.

"Well aren't you the clever one," hey Jo. It's even funnier that you went and added that in 'cause like all the other quotes in that scene are faggy quotes and then there's that line lol. Rena don't use faggy quotes again. Although they do have more of a storybook vibe, admittedly.

The present day story didn't feature a lot of Pemus, not that it necessarily needed to during the middle part, but it did feel kinda weird getting to the 6/7 scene of Act II and realizing that was his first and only PD appearance in the whole of said act. No more yolo guest centrics, right? Or is 1.16 centric to like idk Robin Hooch, idr. I want Slutty Red's ep. Also Granny Fanny's. Femme guests thx. Omg Whorora's. I want Whorora's.

RIP Abigoat. Also, RIP 15-20 men, can we just? Abby's death I enjoyed. Not like that but like I liked it. Pemus doing it but also reli the Queer doing it. Was a good piece of sad thrown in to make the ep feel more relevant, 'cause yeah I was questioning why the storming of the castle was even happening by the time Fucks got his heart back. Needed to be relevant to some big dramatic event, and then it was. Although, are they gonna all storm the castle a third damned time in 1.18? 'Cause cba a little. Halberd. Thank you muchly. Huberd should handle a Halberd. That'll happen in OUaV's grand revival. Lol in DB he was ghey. Huberd's homophobic, fun. Make his character in OUaP one of the peeps who despises Joshooa for his faggotry. Unless he already has a character. It's impossible to pay attention to users in this show.

Blow's behind-the-scenes arc of making everybody hate each other ended in her and the Dog teaming up, which I hope is fun. And also relevant. And also, waiting for Porn to establish any kind of relationship with another mainie, thank you. Rena's a dickish lead. Apparently that's the price of y'all tryna not make him a goody two-shoes, but oy. Goody two-shoes is better, so long as you don't act like they still a goody two-shoes after they do summit hoeish, like Jane tryna RIP Petrael right after making it a thing. The SLUT. Jane the Slut lol that. But yeah, dickish Rena cannot. His bloodlust wasn't funny enough to go OOC for, made me dislike him more. Make me like your leads. I wanna ultimately be on his side when he kills Josh by fucking him in the ass him which LET'S BE HONEST is the only reason this show was written lol like we all know it.

On that note, making Rena less annoying, just little things like him interrupting the Dog and Red by tryna kill Red. With leads, what makes them so bland is that we're always with them from their POV, but this had Rena interrupting someone else's POV. If we'd been from his POV for the whole scene, and watched him attack Dog and Red with no context, and then found out he was interrupting her hearing him out, it'd work. Like, idk how to explain it, just imagine how much we'd all despise Jane in S1 if Petra were the protagonist, with the exact same events. I keep going back to Jane. Do I like Jane? Meh just ignore this actually. I'd delete it but I cba and also it adds to the length of this thing.

So Josh has the curse. Er ner.

Gud ep keep up.

Yeah I don't remember if I was at all miffed about 607 tbh. There are, however, other ideas OUaT got to do before I did even though I thought of them first. Or, at least, before they came out with them. Sigh. I am absolutely gonna change Mome to Pome when I get the chance - meaning, when I muster up the energy - to, it makes a heck of a lot more sense. Parody names can be hard sometimes, and I more than often miss the mark. Pemus and Pomolus' dynamic, let's just say it actually derives from a real-life dynamic and relationship of mine - no, not at all connected to chat - so I was indeed very much feeling Pomolus' lines (lulz), but I do acknowledge how conceited he was (and I was) all along, so in that particular moment I don't necessarily sympathize with either one of them, they're both in the wrong.

Yes, the idea for the entire backstory came from the wolves. Graham had a wolf companion, so I was inspired by that, wanted to do anything that involved wolves, and was reminded of Rome's founders, ground that has - as of yet - been untouched by OUaT, so I went with it. As for the Big Bad Dog, here's the thing, originally I intended for the Fucksman to pop back up in season 2 and redeem himself, all within a Big Bad Dog-heavy arc that included one of his centrics, so we'd see how they became acquainted (their pre-existing relationship had been hinted at in 1.06). However, Jo wanted the Fucksman to be a season 1-exclusive character, and I agreed with it, so I squeezed the Dog into a minor flash - I like the notion that not everyone can be a hero. I think Pemus turned out to actually be more villainous than I originally planned, he was gonna be more of a victim, but then I feared he'd be too whiney, and at least this way we can see that the Queer enslaving him was actually his comeuppance, rather than an unjust fate. Regarding Blow White, whereas the Fucksman is over and done with story-wise, when (if) we get to properly flesh out Blow's story, I'm sure someone will portray the role of the Huntsman, but I leave that up to Jo. Remember that the Hunterer is also a play on the stock character of the hunter/huntsman. As for Rhea and Dog, we'll take that into consideration, cos I'd hate not showing her again, but as of the moment, no, there's no plans for her to re. We are surely gonna need to fill up some episodes for the core characters down the line though, so I'll see what can be done about establishing a connection between the two.
I feel ya about the female characters. So tell ya what, breaking news to tide you over, season 2 has FIVE new series regulars, ALL OF THEM female. Which, lol. But yeah. The main cast will almost double in size, let's see how we manage that. But yeah, what that leads to is lotsa female centrics. Whorora's centric, unfortunately, will take a long-ass time, but I'm sure it'll be worth it. They are absolutely gonna storm the castle again in 118, which, sigh for us to write. Maybe third time's the charm? I'm excited for several things in 1.18, the castle attack is not one of them. Let's see if we can try to put a spin on it.
I checked the cast page and our overall plans and no, Huberd doesn't have a character yet. He should have a relevant one.
Wow you make an excellent point about POV that I never considered... Is that from your lectures? Cos minda kinda blown tbh. It'd be great if I could pull off an episode in which we see the same event from the POVs of different characters and how they react differently to the exact same thing but make it more nuanced and it's tiring me just to think about it so no thanks. Thank you so much for reading and reviewing, as always, and I'm glad this was a step up from 1.14. Here's hoping the last three are to your liking too. - Renaboss (talk) 22:50, 2 December 2017 (UTC)
